Hi forum people! This or similar definitions of skewer is as follows:

... a less valuable piece is attacked by a rook, bishop, or queen, forcing it to move out of the way to reveal a more valuable piece behind it

Can someone give me the logic in why this puzzle is called a skewer? I've spent a month pondering it now and just don't see it. Thank you for any help.

ADDED: Corrected definition of Skewer is below in post #8

I was hoping, by catching the number on the puzzle, I could find it again but I'm unsure how. It is 1182138 if anyone knows a way. It is from Custom Puzzles > Skewers

I suspect that if it were a two-step puzzle, I would have video'd it instead or captured the first screen even if very tired.

The puzzle does not belong in a skewer/pin section.

This statement is not correct ~ a less valuable piece is attacked by a rook, bishop, or queen, forcing it to move out of the way to reveal a more valuable piece behind it.

A less valuable piece in front of a more valuable piece is forced to stay there, otherwise you would lose more points, That is called a pin. A more valuable piece in front of a lesser piece must move to avoid a greater point loss. A Skewer.

I had grabbed Google's AI answer to 'what is a skewer in chess' and I didn't even read it first; just wanted a quick copy/paste of definition. I appreciate the correction!
