Jacqueline Piatigorsky celebrates her 100th birthday today.  Mrs. Piatigorsky was one of the top U.S. woman chess players of the 1950's and 1960's.  She and her husband, celebrated cellist Gregor Piatigorsky hosted the two Piatigorsky Cups in the 1960's, which featured the strongest chess players in the world.

Not so bad as a chess player either--1800s on my 1961 USCF rating list.

I have been selling chess books on eBay recently, and I have a few copies ofSmile Bobby Fischer's " My 60 Memorable Games". I have had these books for about 10 years. One book had its first page stuck to the inner side of the front cover. When I pulled it apart this ticket was there. It looks like it was printed yesterday. It's in MINT CONDITION. I have never seen another ever.

Nice piece of chess history there. I have 2 copies of that book. One was torn up so I had it rebound in a hard back cover. The other is still in original condition. I enjoy going through it from time to time.

Have you ever read up on Jacqueline Piatigorsky's ? She was a Rothschild. "Jacqueline Rebecca Louise de Rothschild (November 6, 1911 – July 15, 2012) was a French-born American chess and tennis champion, author, sculptor, arts patron, philanthropist, and chess organizer and patron.[1] She was a member of the Rothschild banking family of France "

/\ Its amazing the opportunity to hone in on various skills when you have money.  Wish I had money, or a talent for that matter lol.

Nice find on the ticket btw.  That's neat.

She was one of the most important women in chess history. Her husband was a master Cellist.

I am considering selling this ticket which I assume it is a MINT One of a kind find. Its over 50 years old. First day of the First Piatigorsky Cup. Mrs Jacqueline Piatigorsky has passed away,, and the Los Angeles Abassador Hotel no longer exists.  Anyone here involved with a "chess museum" ?
