Just finished ''Endgame''

Hey,

So I just finished ''Endgame'' after watching the Bobby Fischer movie (yikes, what was the name?.'' All I can say is this: the sensational title of the book ''Endgame: BoBobby Fischer's Remarkable Rise and Fall - from America's Brightest Prodigy to the Edge of Madness'' is highyl unfair of what the book actually shows.

It is a wonderfully fluid narrative and you really do feel like you are with Fischer. The one critique I have is the chapter on the World Champion match/series. Spasky applauding game 6 is not mentinoed, in fact the games are hardly mentioned. Frankly, I don't think I would have apprecated how talented Fiacher was had I not know that many consider him the GOAT.

Nonetheless, I would reccomend the book to all. I never wold have know that Fischer and Botnivik bumped heads before one of thier matches--prooving chess can be violent sometimes. Or how Tal would stare down Fiacher and play mindgames (some are just amazing to read about). I loved it. Tje anecdotes, more than aything, make the book worth reading. The sections before the World Champions are wonderful and amazing and the part after it are too. That oen chapter i thought really sucked (IMO).
