mate ... oops, oh no!

Ever confidently make your winning move only to find out you missed seeing that square was covered by the bishop or whatever at the other end of the board, and now you just lost your queen?  The moment between mate and the game ending lasts a few beats too long and then you get this huge sinking feeling that something bad is about to happen, then ... kapow! Is maybe worse embarrassment than missing your opponent's (preventable) winning move.

Yes!! This happens to me ore than it should. It even happened to Carlsen once.

It's good to be able to laugh about the embarrassing mistakes. As this means I laugh ALL the time. I just had a laugh btw lol

Is too painful if you actually resigned this position, with mate on your next move. Kind of reminds me of when my computer scrambled a paper due the next day, and then asked if I wanted to save changes. And I pressed yes.
