No-Vacation Tournaments.

  • #1

Please be nice? Well, why do idiots create no vacation tournaments more often than not?

  • #2
Because that way tournaments go faster. What's so hard to understand?
  • #3

Why not make them ten seconds per move if you want them to be faster? You aren't addressing the point, which is that no vacation tournaments can only be for people who never go on holiday or travel anywhere for three days, without a computer.

  • #4

    Maybe some people hate holidays.

  • #5

I suppose they're the obsessive chess players.

  • #6

Because there are some people who in a losing position will go on vacation deliberately and stall the entire tournament for months.

Phones nowadays are basically computers. Who doesn't travel without their phone?

That really is a stupid comment. So why are vacations normally allowed??

  • #11
So tournament creators are supposed to create rules on what might happen? Oh someone might be on vacation so let's risk the tournament taking months because someone decided to vacation in a losing position
  • #12
Honestly a tournament creators only priority is to make sure the tournament goes smoothly there are people with 2 months of vacation time and will use it when they're in a losing position

So what we have is a few pompous jerks who want to make it hard for anyone to take a well-deserved break. For all you know, they earn their livings at a computer ten hours a day and they need a break. In any case, where I usually go on holiday here in the UK, there are no mobile signals.

Honestly tournaments that allow vacationing are more stupid cause there's more of a risk

You're recommending that they create rules on what might happen when you want them to prevent people making tournaments that **may** last too long. You don't even see your hypocrisy, I'm sure.

Basically, the rule that allows vacation time is well thought out. There's a risk either way but it's better to allow vacations because then you'll get a better class of player and not so many obsessives, as well as allowing those who need a break to take a break. I think those who want to prevent that on the off-chance that someone will take a three month break are punishing ordinary people in order to massage their own conceit.

What are you getting so upset about that you're starting to insult each other? If you don't like no vacation tournaments just don't play in them. Or organise a tournament yourself with long holidays and the tournament will keep you busy for two years. What's the fuss? Maybe too many lost games lately?

I'm not insulting him but I have this weird feeling that the next time optimissed has to wait 2 months on his vacationing opponent he will be whistling a different tune
  • #19
Also wow optimissed how ignorant are you? You do realize that there are more cases of people going Afk and getting auto vacation times because they are platinum members and people abandoning games for months because they are in a losing position. That happens more often then people actually going on vacations and losing cause of time. Not exactly worth calling me a hypocrite over

Was not a good comparison by any means
