One of my best tactical games I ever played

TonyKolarek

Right now I'm analyzing this game I played some minutes ago, and I noticed that this is probably my best tactical game I ever played. This is likely the first time that I have thought of those "nice" tactics (for me they are awesome since I'm just a newbie, lol).

I feel like practicing tactics a lot is very useful, after all tongue.png

I'm white, what do you think?

PS. For anyone who finds a checkmate in 1 missed, congratulations! Your eyes far succeed mine, haha.

What tactic are you referring to?

21.Qe8 Mate

By tactics I even mean just a simple one where I win a pawn (I honestly consider that a tactic since I aim for said pawn)

12. Ad2 my opponents moves the pawn I'm aiming for, so

13. Ag5 I'm aiming for my opponent to move the knight e8 (take the rook) or d7 (taking the pawn by attacking the rook)

In this one however my opponent could save it by playing Qd8

Second one actually was my opponent's error, but I'm happy I saw that I could attack both knight and rook, and threatening checkmate by attacking the rook, so the knight is trapped (I don't know if there's something my opponent could do to save both, though)

The last one is 22. Dc6, I aimed to check the king with the bishop and take my opponent's Queen. Well, this one was easy to see for someone rated 1200 actually, so I don't know how my opponent fell into it, but I'm quite happy since this is my first time doing this tactic in a real game, lol. I only saw it on tactic trainers and thought "yeah, nobody would fall for it"

*your eyes are definitely better than mine*

Now I'd be really interested to start playing and seeing more future moves, like 6-7-8 ahead so I can do real good tactics...

This is a common misconception, seeing 6-7-8 moves ahead.  The vast majority of players do not see, or look that far ahead.

Well then, something higher than I can currently do. Or perhaps a better pattern recognition, but I'm practicing it tongue.png

I think that even in classical chess, only masters can see 6 - 7 - 8 moves ahead in tactical positions. Personally, I can see maybe 3 moves ahead if I'm lucky, and 0.01 moves ahead if I'm in time trouble!

The only time you need to see 6-8 moves ahead is if its a forcing line.  If its not, then youre wasting your time, regardless of your rating.  Play through any GM games and see how many forced lines are 6-8 moves deep.

I'm curious how one goes about posting a game like this.  Anyone want to help?  I just had a great one!
