Okay, I am going to keep this simple and short. I have a gripe with some of the puzzle formats and I think it needs to be changed, particularly in puzzles where the objective is to 'Calculate for Checkmate'.
Now, i'll admit, i'm a noob, plain and simple, so calling me one is redundant. Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't the point of puzzles to be educational? My problem is that in many puzzles they stop short of the mate, between 2-8 moves short in general, especially once you pass the 1700 rating mark. For a noob like me to understand I need to go into analysis and figure it out myself and the engine often disagrees with the moves the computer makes, even after the first move, which is usually a blunder. Are they trying to make them seem more human by blundering after the first move when they clearly don't need to because it's not a forced position?
How does one calculate that the computer will blunder after their first move? Which happens often.
If it's supposed to be educational then show the puzzle through to it's completion ffs! Especially when one is simply doing random puzzles, not puzzle rush. I think showing these puzzles through to there conclusion would be a tremendous help.
If puzzles are simply for fun and not suppose to be educational than I guess this entire topic is redundant and the mods can delete it if they wish.
So in conclusion, I am looking to hear other peoples opinions on this topic and if you agree with me or not. If you do agree then please comment that you do and maybe we can affect some kind of change.
I know chess.com is hiring computer whizzes to create more 'human-like' puzzles and bots but what does that mean? They want people to engineer puzzles that blunder like people? We already know that bots blunder on purpose or only play the 3rd and 4th best lines.
Anyways, all CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is welcome
Thanks,
