WEAR CAN I PLAY CHESS FOR REAL MONEY ONLINE ?

DamonevicSmithlov

That's a great idea. Why didn't anyone else think of that? I noticed u added the online part in the next post. That's an important part, good job. Let us know how it goes.

Chess cannot be played online for real money. The temptation for someone to use an engine becomes way too high when money gets involved. If you wish to play chess for real money, you will likely have to play over the board.

Yeah I agree, If chess is played online for real money people would start cheating left and right without you even knowing it! I've supported my chess career recently by making part time income online while going to more tournaments throughout the year. Its easy>>visit <<   I HOPE THIS HELPS!

On some other sites, engine use is allowed and you may play for real money. They have E-points which can be converted in money. They are required to enter some tournaments, but there is also free one, where you can only win without need to gamble.

Well some mod seem has edited my comment ,since there is not allowed to talk about other sites. If you are interested, PM me .

They still have to deal with collusion and mirroring games. AFAIK, ICCF* reduced the number of real money online tournaments exactly for these reasons.

* For editing mods: ICCF is chess organization, not competing chess website. PB.

The reason why there's no money in chess is:

1) Online is full of engine users - I guarantee that if you actually awarded monetary prizes for reaching a certain online rating, people would use engines.

2) Bad players have zero chance to win, so why would they risk money? - Someone rated 2500 is going to beat someone rated 1500 about 99.999% of the time. Compare that to poker, where the best player in the world might only beat an above average poker player about 80% of the time in a heads up tournament. That's why there's more money in poker than chess: because bad players actually have a chance to win a poker tournament, so they get sucked in, just like the lottery. Whereas at chess, a bad player will simply never beat a grandmaster, so the bad player is smart enough not to risk any money against the grandmaster.

Not online, but in OTB tournaments, there are money prizes for reserve sections and best-in-class (or even multiple best-in-class, e.g. best 2 u1800 players not winning any open prizes, etc.)  So, chess tournaments, thanks to ELO ratings, can allow a weaker player to play and have a chance at money.

For me...Ideally, open tournaments with class prizes.  It gives us bottom feeders a chance to play the big boys.
