Queens Gambit opening, now what?

Hello chess lovers

Would appreciate some guidance, I am fairly new to chess and I am looking to improve my game. I have taken the direction of learning a opening,  the queens gambit to help me setup a coordinated opening structure which has helped me enormously. I have been playing quite a few games as white to gain a greater insight into how to play this set up and the strengths and weaknesses surrounding it.  I am aware that many other openings exist and was intrigued how others have gone about progressing.  Is it advisable to stick with one opening for a while and really try and develop a strong ability from this set up or do others learn some of the other openings? and if so where is advisable to start, any comments greatly appreciated.

thanks

I like the QG and if you're from the UK you might like GM Chris Ward who specialises in it. His books are great. He does it for me!

The QG was my first opening too.  After that I learned the Ruy Lopez and had a good time of it so there's one suggestion.  I guess it's worth mentioning though that I haven't played either of them in years.  You might learn some openings before discovering your style and then find out they don't fit well.

thanks for the comments guys! I gave up playing queen pawn games after the advice, i started playing the italian game mainly because it attacks the f7 square and i could catch a few people out when i was a beginner and playing similiar opponents.

I have now started playing the kings gambit which is great fun, it leads to such an open game with great tactics!
