hey, in some games its worth trading a queen for a pawn. the situation decides all.
rook,bishop,knight..!!??
1 rook = 5 pawns, 1 bishop = 3 pawns, 1 knight = 3 pawns
So you should exchange your rook for a bishop and knight. But of course there are many situations where your rook is better than a bishop+knight.

Usually, yes! The classical relative values of the pieces are: queen=9, rook=5, knight or bishop=3, pawn=1. That means N+B > R in most cases.
A more thoughtful valuation system and a discussion about trading N+B for R+P can be found here, in case you want to learn more. :)

Is that a fact? i thought, queen = 9, rook =4, bishop=knight=3. think ive seen this in a book somewhere. whaduya say 2 dat? which is the rite one?
be aware though that in the endgame checkmating with a rook is easy whereas checkmating with a bishop and knight is very difficult and may not be possible.

Michael_Toth> checkmating with a rook is easy
Yes, as long as you've practiced it as some point! I recently drew a 1458 at live chess with long time controls who could not checkmate me with K+R vs K.
Michael_Toth> checkmating with a bishop and knight is very difficult and
Good point. Add pawns to the mix and, of course, the minor pieces destroy the rook. Here's a recent endgame survey from GM Flear:
- R vs B+N (equal pawns): +0, =10, -22
- R vs B+N (rook has 1 extra pawn): +9, =27, -12
- R vs B+N (rook has 2 extra pawns): +16, =11, -1
Michael_Toth> may not be possible.
It's always possible to mate with K+B+N vs K except for a few trivial cases where the K can capture the B or N in the next move or three. Of course, if you don't put in any practice, then you may be out-of-luck in live or over-the-board games.

White to move, 1.Kc6 Kf7 2.Kb7 Be5 3.Kxa8 draws. If it were Black to move, even in this annoying position Black has a mate-in-30.

HotFlow> Care to list the moves out?
Good one.
Perfection isn't required--usually a B+N mate takes me 36-42 moves to complete.
HotFlow> I wonder what the longest forced mate sequence on record is?
For K+B+N it's 33 moves. The longest forced mate I know of is 290 moves... of course, in practice nowadays it's only 50 moves because of the 50-move rule!
is one rook worth a bishop+a knight..?????that mean,should i sacrifice a rook for "them"--->(a bishop+a knight)......???
that's all.......
thank u..
