Depends on how much chess you want to play and how seriously you play. I think a lot of people would leave the site if they had to pay for it. All the apps on my mobile are free and I have many. :-)

I am a free member, and I'm very grateful to be able to access this great website.  I understand that there have to be restrictions to what I can do, because otherwise Chess.com would never be able to sell a single membership.  Having said that, please be advised that I rarely abort games, I never talk trash (and instantly block those who do).  It is possible that I post stupid questions, but they do not seem stupid to me. 

AND WHO I VOTED FOR IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS.

My suggestion is if you want to dramatically improve your chess skills, either get a private coach or perium membership on chess.com. Plain and simple.

Mr. that is a very general statment. You want to see how much money the site makes without free members/ also premium members can be nasty just as much a free ones. So if you want to talk to the staff that's fine but talking of stupid questions, maybe some of them are silly, but you don't have to listen to them. And speaking of which you could try to be nicer, and really what you just posted is really nasty. Yes premium members get more stuff cause they pay, but does that mean their better? just cause one guys an ameture and the other gets coached by the best in the world doesn't mean the guy who has a coach is better. Chess,com is a great site to play chess on and people come FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD not just the US, so if you don't want too many tempers raised i would not post stuff like that too much. we come here to play chess, not insult each other

It's up to whoever runs the site. Those of us who are free users are so lucky to be able to play chess games whenever we want, for FREE. In addition, I use this website because I like it better than the others.

There should be more benefits for acutally paying members. That website-which-shall-not-be-named is a really good, and free, substitute for every thing I could obtain here as a paying customer.

I'm a free member and I like it. The only benefits I would want would be no ads, which would be nice. But I prefer chess tempo and books as my study aids.

i think that it would be better even with MEMBERSHIP it just means more people will increase their SKILL .
