I think that this quote is quite a big lie. Didn't chess drive Fischer mad? How about the famous chessboard serial killer?

600 million chess players in the world.

A handful of high profile players with mental health problems ... most obviously Fischer.  And one serial killer.

Talk about cherry picking your evidence to support your preconceptions.

Your evidence is based on lies, whatever your username is.

Even Magnus is a bit mental. In the 2018 World Championship, before the playoffs, he threatened to smash the chessboard if he lost. If he lost, he would try to come back as a monster who would only play for revenge.

Most people have never had EQ measured., or their IQ for that matter.  You are still pretending that there is objective evidence for your subjective opinions

"Your evidence is based on lies, whatever your username is"

I am not the one making sweeping assertions on flimsy evidence.  You are.  I am not making any claims about the relationship between chess and mental illness.  I am just disputing your claim.

What is the problem. Are you miffed because someone doesn't agree with you?

No, you are. What do you mean most chess players haven't had their IQ or EQ measured? Even the evil Nazi Generals in the Nuremburg Trial had their EQ and IQ measured. Studies have shown that chess players tend to have a lower EQ than sports people in general. So, whatever your username is guy, why don't you just admit you're the one telling lies?

My words are not opinions, mr.whatever your wierd username is. My words are objective, just admit that you're the one lying.

Did you know that playing lots of chess can shrink your brain? Science has proof! https://www.wired.com/2014/10/beware-playing-lots-chess-will-shrink-brain/

I am quite happy to let other members of chess.com read our little exchange of words and make their minds up about which of us is being reasonable here, and which of us is factually correct. They can also make up their minds about our respective characters.   Goodbye Mr. amigosdead. I want nothing to do with you ever again.

Come on, a basic fact is that EQ is more important than IQ. A person with a high IQ and a low EQ is generally called a nerd in middle and high school years.

Correlation is not Causation. If your city has a lot of schools, and a lot of crime, you cannot say schools cause crime. Many of these people just didn’t know what to do with their life once their career was over. Sports doesn’t always mean a ton of money. Many of this articles so called “effects” of chess do not always happen.

I don't really understand your evidence.

@amigosdead who?
