Sportsmanship?

Does anyone here know how to acknowledge that they aren't playing against a computer but rather vs. another human?  I understand there can be language barriers sometimes but saying 'gg' is common decency if you ask me.  Imagine playing across someone and then just walking away without recognizing the other's time and effort, regardless of how good or bad it was!  Or is that common in the realm of local chess games?  Anyways, rant over and the sore losers (and winners) have been put on blast :-)
