Stalemate

I'm a beginner and I was wondering about stalemate. I just recently had a game with a stalemate, does that happen when the game runs out of a certain amount of moves? If this is the case, how many moves are there max. per game?

Stalemate is when one side cannot make any legal move, yet his king is not in check.

Other ways to draw:

If the same position is repeated at least three times, then one side can claim a draw.

If 50 moves are made without a pawn move or a capture, then a draw can be claimed.

There is no maximum to the number of moves per game.

Hope that helps.

So I'm assuming in my last game the same position happened at least three times, I think... but anyway, thanks for the info.

In your last game, after you took the bishop, your opponent had no legal moves to make.  b8 is guarded by the knight, and a7 and b7 are guarded by your king.  Since he could not possibly make any move, and since he was not in check, the game is drawn (stalemate).

No, in the game I was the king that wasn't in check. But was it no legal moves possible or was it 3 times repetition.

Another thing I want to know is does your score change, and by how much. If anyone knows.

Thanks, the way I did it is was with the analyze function. That thing is so top notch. But if someone could tell me if my score changes, because I haven't been playing that many games, and the record of my other games is gone. I can't see them because I'm not premium. So I kind of want to figure out if my score changed and by how much.
