So if I understand your rambling correctly...The game is called a draw right before you checkmate because of threefold repetition? Which happens even though it's perfectly possible to win? So er...why are you not checkmating and winning instead of repeating the position? You think this feature should be turned off and both players should be able to call it a stalemate instead? Which is also a draw and the same result... WTF are you talking about?

I queened a pawn, while the opponent had only a king left, and I myself had only a king as well as the queen. I forced his king into the corner with my queen and king, but right before I could checkmate the game called a draw by repetition. It was perfectly winnable, but given a certain amount of moves before the game cuts you off?

If the position is repeated 3 times a player may claim a draw, which I guess is what your opponent did. Why did you repeat the position 3 times instead of checkmating the guy?

It was probably the 59 moves rule.

I mean the 50 move rule

If it's this game: https://www.chess.com/livechess/game?id=2220272256. That's a stalemate, not repetition. It's your opponent's move, but he has no legal moves and isn't in check, so it's a draw.

Read posts first to make sure the question isn't already answered. Why does no one know about the edit button?

All stalemates are draws.
All draws are not stalemates.
Understand the difference.
