Maybe it's time for me to step away from chess. Life no longer gives me the luxury to dedicate time to it. Still proud to have reached a 2000 rating, but I don’t think I can push any higher. Lost about 10 matches in a row. Guess it means I've hit my limit.
If you say you have to stop because you have to focus on more important things, I understand perfectly ( I haven't touched a piece for twenty years : a long time ago, after enthusiastically playing in a club for a couple of years, I had to make a decision, to forget about chess. I started again recently ).
But if you leave because you lost 10 games in a row and you feel like you have hit your limit, well, then I don't understand. It's as if the purpose of playing chess is just to accumulate points, and when you can't increase them anymore you stop. Sincerely, I can't understand this imperative to improve (= increase points ) at all costs. You have reached a fairly good level (and you say you're proud of it), it should still be very interesting to play chess, even at that level...
Anyway, everyone has their own reasons for playing chess, or for quitting. Best wishes for everything.
