Actually Rubinstein was a dedicated 1.d4 player. One of the thing others accused him was he's obsession to play only Queens Gambit with both colors. Playing 1.d4 Rubinstein succeeded to master many things. First he connected he's middlegame plans with rook endings and second he achieved something that time was not well known : How to put your pieces in a closed position in effective way before it opens!

I have a problem with people who play the move D4 as white. I right away think, this is a weak, timid, untrustworthy, and non-genius person in real life. I automatically lose respect for them. It could be that they're playing the move to upset me and to put me on tilt like in poker. It seems to have worked. I have not had that good of results against D4. wow can't believe you just said this. e4 is literally the most boring opening you can find out here. Like come on who wants a boring open standard e4 position. come on e4 positions are so open and boring it's so easy to play and you have to think. While d4 is generally from my very closed and Tense. it takes longer than e4 to play but your going to get a very tight and tense position with a lot of pawn moves already where you can ACTUALLY start a monster attacks. Imagine saying this when all you do is play this absolutely pathetic boring E4. and your not a genius AND D4 HAS BETTER RESULTS THEN E4 ANYWAYS SO -_- im not wasting time but just do research and it'll tell you that e4 is draws and just pathetic

it depends really, some of them played 1.e4 at some point, some did not, but truth to be told they had to nail Rubinstein's pawn on d4, before the game
