Your last move is the bomb.
This is an awesome tactic I have finally been able to apply to a game.
The first time you get to pull off a classic smothered mate, it feels like magic
Yes - I completely agree. My first ever smothered mate was due to a pinned pawn like in the Blackburne Shilling Gambit, but I think it feels "more magical" in the first game smothered mate is done with a lone Knight.
My first "true lone Knight checkmate" was in this following game if anyone is interested. The game was not that great, but the ending is really cool.

So note that today is not one of my better days, which is why I blundered. Usually I'm better then this but I am off today so please look past my major blunder. I play white. Starting out through the game I was doing pretty well except for a couple inaccurates, but overall throughout the game I think I did pretty well. I admit I most got lucky with a mating blunder. If you look at my mate, it is a tactic which most people below 1600 wouldn't see and I have done that tactic a few times but never got to play it in a game. It did take me a few moves to realize it but I had noticed If I sac my queen my knight will mate the king! This is one of the many reasons I favor knights over bishops. I hope you enjoyed the game. Please do tell me whether or not you think I did awful or if I did good and why. A lot of posts I get on my games people just post "good game" or "nice job" and I'd like a little more info so I can get better.
