Remember how it felt being new to chess and having that feeling of "I can't wait to get as good as I aim for?"

Well as time went by, and you got good at chess, and when you look back you certainly learned to notice the difference between what you were doing wrong back then, and what you're doing right right now, so my question is:

What are the good habits that a new chess player needs to develop?

But most importantly, what the bad habits most beginners do and that you can advise me to avoid?

Grrracias!

Play all 64 squares, not just the 9 to 16 squares where the action is, it is easy to miss a good move, in the heat of battle.  Find yourself 2 or 3 good openings for white and the same for black.  Realize and be aware the queen is just another piece, I don't know how many time I could have won a game sacrificing a queen.  And practice, practice, practice.
