To play or not to play

2Late4Work
Some people say that when we study and read books we shouldn't play. The reason for this is that we will never get rid of our bad patterns and continue as always.

Other players say we should play alot, even if we study and read books. What is your opinion?

Where do the players say this? I'd like to read it.

How can you learn if you don’t play ! 🤷‍♂️

Play.

You'll need to lose thousands of games before you become a good player.

You can't lose if you don't play!

AussieRookie

It's common reading in books. "Don't play while reading since you won't get rid of your bad habbits and etc."

Play and read on the same day, but make sure that you play slower time controls immediately after reading/learning, since that's the time when you need to form new habits and think carefully.

You can go back to blitz/bullet games after the information has sunk in, but when you freshly learn something, you should play slow games, so that you can apply your new skills.

Well, I don't know. I have 4 more OTB games at my club I must play, and 5 games here. After that I was thinking to take a break, and only study. To let everything sink in.
