How good are they in general? Would I be able to compete in blitz games? D: I'm too scared to try.

The clubs tend to have a range of players.

For example, Southampton University has four teams, A-D, that compete in the Southampton league. Some are expert level players, while others have just been introduced to the game. Either way, you're bound to find someone of your own level.
