Her Couplets Rhyme With Merry Chimes
To let us see" She Knows You Know"
Donald! This thread is purile!
I expected from you something, more worthwhile,
Something that at least, would make me smile,
Alas to read it, just became a trial.
Or am I just,
In complete denial?
WHICH GAME HUNT
Which game to tackle next?
This one here – or that one yon?
A riddle many vexed!
And quiet flows the Don.
That with the leastest time
‘Tis clear to anyone!
He may not be online
And quiet flows the Don.
The one with fewest moves
Is surely the right one?
Still in its opening grooves
And quiet flows the Don.
The game with mostest moves
The nearest to be won?
Easiest to be lost it proves
And quiet flows the Don.
So after all this thinking
Light on the answer shone
It stands before you blinking
And quiet smiles the Don*.
* The Don = Donald Fraser (xqsme)
I'm not sure who Riana is, but it reminds me of a old tale about Donald which I probably shouldn't repeat here ...
The headmistress of a girls' school asked him to give her pupils a talk on Christianity and sex. He was happy to do so but didn't want to upset his prudish wife so he told her he would be giving the girls a talk about sailing. A week later the headmistress met his wife in the street and told her what a good talk her husband gave. "I can't imagine it was that good," said his wife. "He's only ever done it twice. The first time he was sick, and the second time his hat blew off."
What brilliant context Art- trying to put folk to see your terrific Twinkly diagrams and method is to speak them and immediately re-post the thread for them and i call this "Hotposting".Riana is Zuid Africaan lady in play just now.
Thanks for the alert, xqsme. This is awesome. The extremes I mean. A poem that can be defined as an amazing grace, and a story that can be described as a, well, a disgrace ..
Very neat, Petite - i was impressed greatly by diagrams showing my "Twinkly Winklies" proposal and wish i could do stuff like that.
I like the poem especially. The lines are symmetrical and the recurring Don refrain is the catch. And it's so cool to take liberties with the language with words like "leastest" and "mostest."
And Quiet Flows the Don (1934) is the first part of the great Don epic (Tikhii Don / Тихий дон) written by Mikhail Sholokhov. The novel deals with the life of the Cossacks living in the Don River valley during the early 20th century, probably around 1912, just prior to World War I. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/And_Quiet_Flows_the_Don
