" I just touched my nuts with my pawn moving hand". Sometimes coupled with a crack about herpes. Not that I did that or have that...
I consider wishing your opponent good luck before an online game to be the equivalent of a handshake before an OTB game
I don't really say anything at the start of a game and find that most other people don't either - not that early anyway. There's usually no communication in the opening or middlegame but endgames are entertaining and I might say something if one of us makes an amusing blunder that suddenly seals our fate!
I go for a good game... but some people take it too seriously and think I was talking trash, but I'm saying, hey, it's going to be a good game no matter what!
New to the online chess - In the past, I have said nothing! Not meaning to be rude just hate typing. Takes me to long. I dislike canned verbalization takes my brain forever to think on the fly so I say nothing. Love all & I love chess! Who's up for a game?
I usually say, "let's have fun!". I don't want my opponent to have good luck, so I don't wish them good luck. I do want us both to have fun.
If someone wishes me good luck, I thank them.
lol

No, Tom Jones is from South Wales, Dylan Thomas was from South/ mid Wales. Thank you for your interest in Wales.
I used a capital letter for Thesaurus because I was implying that it was Roget's which is the only one I have, which does make it a proper noun.
I do think that proper use of language is important because there is no doubt that language influences conciousness. If anybody doubts me, then please read George Orwell's 1984.
As for me, I have no aspirations (wannabe) to be a grade school teacher, I am a university postdoctoral research associate where correct use of English is essential.
