What is harder, chess or American football?

I know they are different but make an argument if you had to say one choice.

Because of how physical it is, the career for them is much shorter, so if you just look at how much work it takes, to be the best in american football obviously takes much less work. You just don't have much time before it's all over.

Also it's a team sport, so it depends on the position. Some players just need to be big and fat. Some just need to be able to kick a ball. For these guys all it takes is to be born with a big body, then go on a diet so you're fat enough / athletic enough. I wouldn't call that work.

I mean the one is a game where mostly fat people with no other recognizable talent don't do anything for a quarter of an hour before they finally make a move that takes about a second and the other is chess.
