I took a board to the racetrack because my friend was there 7 days a week. He said he played 2nd board on his high school team for the state championship. I used a couple of guest71 s openings I even fiaenchettoed my knights and beat him 2 games in a row while I played horses and had fun he stayed glued to the board to no avail. He never played me again because of something I showed him later. It was on the icc.
Where is the strangest place you have ever played a game of chess...
By the way regarding my previous post on the fiaenchettoed knights. I bet nobody here ever saw that played. Maybe I will do it here sometime an give you all a thrill. I really like to play the most unusual openings and positions in chess. Keeps you all wondering what I am up to
Years ago during a round of golf as we're waiting to hit I find out a guy in our group plays, so I tell him I have a board in my car. We agree to play afterwards and started the game outside the clubhouse. A storm came upon us suddenly and blew some of the pieces away (and it was a little magnetic travel set). We agreed to find the pieces later, and used tees, ball markers, etc. for the missing pieces just to finish the game. Storm worsened quite quickly and the game was over, and the set was useless as the wind had taken pieces in multiple directions.
public restroom. me and the other guy were in stalls next to eachother, he randomly called out a chess move (i believe he opened with e4) i promptly grabbed a piece of toilet paper and a pen to keep track of the game (i could hear him writing too), and proceeded to play a game of chess.
strangest game of chess ever.
On a topless beach in Athens :)...right outside this hotel.
On a bus bouncing over the mountains of Costa Rica. An older guy challenged me to a game (I had been studying with my magnetic set). I beat him with a Fried Liver Attack. He played the Two Knights Defense, then bit big time on my N sac on f7. His poor King didn't know what hit him, especially after I castled long.
in your mom
Reb said a long time ago, he scared you off.
um no...reb is just sortof a jerk with no social skills who had some chip on his shoulder because he assumed im a cheat...and because i dont give a crap about tournaments. I certainly have gotten fed up and disgusted with the various social retards that frequent chess sites but fear never had anything to do with it.
He said you left because you were afraid to play him. I'm surprised I even remembered it since it was so long ago.
As a crew chief on KC-135Q tanker aircraft, I played chess with the boom operator while refueling an SR-71 Blackbird with JP-7 just outside North Vietnam airspace in 1971. I also played chess just before a sapper attack at 2:30 am on the flightline at U Tapao, Thailand in Jan 1972 and lucky to get out of that one. Lot of chess playing with crew members during 6 hour refueling or other missions during that time.
It kills me how I supposed to just sit idly by sometimes just to appease her.
