Apparently not.
Why are there so many scholars mates in scholistic tournies?
I find it dumb that people make fun of scholastic tournaments. True, most kids are bad at chess, but so are most adults. And the kids improve, while adults largely don't.
I ask this because, a while back I read that some idiot was trying to make scholars mate illegal in scholastic tournies. If you scholars mate somebody, you forfeit the game. I disagree with this stupid idea.
Yeah, that's a pretty stupid idea. I agree with your disagreement with it.
Do you actually agree with it?! Why not teach em how to avoid it, instead of just rewarding ignorance?
In the three years I played for my high school team, I did not see one fool's mate.
I did see a bunch of horrible endgames, though.
Teaching kids how to avoid scholar's mate is also teaching those who are paying attention how to deliver it.

It can't be delivered, if you know how to avoid it.
Aren't they tought how to avoid em? Also, I meant SCHOLASTIC chess.
