Why can't I win???

Pick the blonde girl. Isn't she supposed to be a quick game during the coffe break? She's beating me 98% of the time.

I've only begun playing chess sort of seriously for the past 3 months. And seriously to me is a few games with my dad each day and sometimes on the computer. Other than that, I don't play.

I also rarely win from my dad.

And idea's why I'm losing to the computer girl?

I would recommend posting your games instead of linking to a game site unless you are just promoting the chess program.

Sangwin

that site is super gay...  but if you insist on playing there you should pick Cody, the easiest level for beginers like yourself.  You are better off playing against begining players like yourself which this site is full of.  It easier to learn from both your own mistakes and that of your opponents this way. Once you have the basics down maybe try and beat the machines..

JonathanWalkerFL

link games maybe

Umm well there is your problem, just because chess isn't as physically demanding as other "sports" like soccer and cricket doesn't mean that you can just pick it up and suddenly win games. In fact there are hardly any activities where you can play for 3 months and suddenly win a game.

My advice: keep playing, the more you play the more chance you have of winning. Don't waste your time playing against computers it is very rare to get a computer that is not too easy or too hard for you at this level, keep playing with your dad and ask for tips on what you did wrong and that will greatly benefit your gameplay. Good luck :D

Cheske

No intention of promoting whatever. I'll post a game session of mine. The 'cody' player is so easy to beat, you don't even need to think what he's doing.

It just boggles my mind that the next one, the girl, is that much ahead. Should be more evened out. And it certainly doesn't seem like a quick game during the coffee break, she's good, or at least, to me as a beginner.

I always lose in chess, why? I'm a lazy player. Whenever I get into the thinking of what the opponent might do, three steps ahead I get lost and ask myself where I am again. Maybe to do with ADHD or something like that. Any way to counter this?

I also make mistakes like letting my opponent eat my pieces without a good reason......

Can anyone try ot play the girl and tell me if she really is that advanced?

Thanks a lot man! This was really good advice!

I was at the library this other time and there are giant chess pieces. A lot of older people come there daily to play chess. So I played against someone my age (Around 21/25). I crushed his queen, rooks and all. He was left with only a rook, some pawns and a bishop. I checked him dozen of times. But because I was careless he got to be queen and I just told him he won (at that time my queen was gone). Stupid stupid me. I still blame myself for doing that. I had someone who was clearly better than me surprised in front of a crowd who thought that I couldn't play. Oh well.

And you're absolutely right about the computer thing. I just feel compelled to play against this girl-computer until I can beat her in every match, but so far she's killing me each time and I only rarely win. So far I've only won 5 times from her and those times I didn't think as much as the times that I lost. It seemed like I won with 'luck'.

Thanks again for the post.

Those players are decently good. I would say the blonde is probably around 1600 rated on here. She doesn't make big mistakes and is tactically and positionally sharp. I lost my first game to her and I was playing seriously, but I can always come up with an excuse like I'm not used to the 3D board and pieces ^^

That helps. I was giving it my all and thought I got all holes covered, but then I get crushed and what little confidence I had with it.

You should play against humans.

baddogno

The 3D board threw me off too but she played a decent opening and early middlegame against me.  I came back here after losing a pawn Embarassed.  Let me get you a link to Lucas Chess where the computer opponents are laughably easy to beat at the lowest level.  Humans make better opponents but sometimes you just want to practice how to win...

After you download it, I recommend playing Snake who will graciously give you his Q generally in the first 5 or 10 moves.

No problem good luck with your chess :)

btw did that game have time controls? eg was it blitz, untimed, or long time controls?

EDIT: i had a go playing against her and you are right she is pretty tough and i wouldn't suggest playing against her if you haven't played quite a bit of chess before she has decent tactics and defence but she seems to play weird moves with her queen, heres the game.

Can't say i played my best since i was trying to emulate a blitz game as you can see from my post game anaylsis i made some errors.

I think a better question is "Why do I suck so bad at chess?". Either way, nothing you can do about it.

As suggested I have been playing Lucass chest snake. So far I'm winning 80-90% of the time. But not the clean type of winning, e.g. a lot of piece losses. Even when I lost my Queen I could win......

Should I keep playing Snake?

A recent game of mine against snake. I got his queen early and thought that I had won onward from that. But then the game tied me for using the same steps too many times. I didn't know that was a rule.

Thanks for the comments! They help!

Lucas has this 'coach' who gives advice after each move I make. But then I have to put my piece back before doing what the coach suggested. Also sometimes I don't understand why the coach says a piece forward back or whatever, is the best move. Hmmm.
