How many foreign languages do you speak?

How many other people speak one of these languages?

I think the answers will unveil that English is the best alternative.

Btw, insisting in the usage of English wouldn't be racist but chauvinistic.

DrSpudnik

I'm always amazed when newspeople go to some far off part of the world--Albania, say, or Uzbekistan--and they can find someone to interview on camera and get a broken yet understandable reply in English. I imagine that if someone from one of these places came here, they would search a very long time to find anyone to talk to who could reply in their language.

herrodri

I think you can use any language, but English is fairly wide spread; so why not use it? Also (among us), the system was invented in an english speaking country. Respect english as you respect your own. Long live acceptance!

GenghisCant

I suppose it is because a large percentage of the world speaks English at some level. I think (don't quote me on the exact number) but it is considered an official language in something like 80 countries as well as recognised as an official language within the EU, NATO, the UN and the Commonwealth. I suppose it's pretty close to a universal language. Not exactly Esperanto but hey.

E: English is the world dominant language.

Manderian is spoken in China, so think why it is the most spoken.

Then why does the system warn me for using Australianisms like f***

but I got abused by a Spaniard yesterday, I think, in Spanish, which is, as we all know, America's second language
