Define real openings.

Monie49
I think he means "book" openings.

Seems very strange to me to complain about the level of play on this site, when the opponents you get are the ones at your own level. If you were any better than the players you criticised then you wouldn't score only 50% against them.

Real openings are played above your level.

I have played 4k+ games in this site and in ONLY 100 of these games i was truly satisfied, people played  real openings(like, say the Siclian Najdorf or Ruy lopez) but in other sites, where people play professionaly, they play according to their preparation,i play 1.e4 and i sit back after i see 1.a5 and stuff. My former coach told me that  on chess.com  60+ old people play there for fun and play troll openings  nor criticizing in any way but just feel that could make this site more competitve...

I think you need to keep in mind that its online chess.  Its not a real OTB tournament game.  People for the most part, are here to have fun.  If youre looking for serious chess players, then you will need to go to ICC, or Lichess.  if youre going to play here, then take it for what it is.  A place to play for fun, with players that generally dont take the game serious.

Because they do not need "real openings" to beat woodpushers, probably?
