Why Is the Rook so Short?

Sort:
stewardjandstewardj

Interesting observation!

stewardjandstewardj

Maybe it's cause the rook is really old. Queens, kings, and bishops generally live around the same age, which is rarely past 100 years. Pawns tend to not live as long due to poverty, and knights less, cause they are horses. But the rook lives for 1000s of years!

Maybe gravity overtook the rook over the years, making it the size it is today.

We need a Game of Thrones chess set. They had knights in those books.

it's "who would've thunk", not "who would've thought".

Good catch. I think Buford inadvertently stepped out of character with "would've."

Well, don't forget to let us know if you come up with the answer.

There are chess sets where the rook is larger. Why does size matter so much? happy.png

Get your mind out of the gutter.  This is about height, not size.  wink.png
