I think it is to do with the pool of players, so at the moment it is unrealistic.
Will A Super GM Reach 3000?
The rating system is set up so ratings keep going up. As we get more chess players and more games the top ratings will keep getting higher. This does not mean other players where worse players, just played in a different era.
Now that Rybka is over 3200 and there are GM's over 2800 one has to wonder
if a GM will reach 3000.
Will this ever happen? Will it happen in the next ten years? Will this
happen in the next 20 years? Who is the most likely candidate to reach 3000?
Will a GM reaching 3000 suggest that players like Morphy who are rated in
the 2500's just weren't as good or will it mean Morphy should be rated much
higher?
