World Cup: Kramnik vs. Andreikin

Sort:
MSC157

And finally we reached the final.

Here you can tell us who is your favourite, what result do you expect and actually anything connected to the final round.

Here's our first game, brilliantly won by former World Champion.

Kramnik will win 2,5 - 1,5.

A motivated Kramnik is just so freaking good at this game :D

Andreikin had at least a draw at some point. I don't think 33...Ne5 was a good move, the knight looks loose there. Also, can someone explain 48...Kxg5? Why not fxg5? It's so much better. I think he would have got some chances with fxg5. I would really like Andreikin to win this. Maybe Kramnik is better, but this guy is underrated, he has played good chess so far and deserved to get to the final. Unfortunately, he really needs a win right now, and I think Kramnik's strategy will be to play really solid, risk-free, get three draws and win the World Cup.

I believe Kramnik will win another game because it was a shock for Dmitry. Not really sure if DA is ready for "duel".

Hehe, still can't believe what Kramnik said at the beginning.

why kramnik didnt take pawn in move 25? Rxb5?

I think because black could go Nd6 and the knight and bishop are attacking the e pawn, which might be the reason or partly the reason why the queen went to e1.

yeah true

And another draw today with Kramnik as white.

Andreikin needs a win in the next game now to continue to rapid. He does have white in that one, but beating kramnik is pretty tough for anyone. Hope it becomes a nice and interesting game

Kramnik plays super solid and hardly makes any mistakes. If he goes for a draw it takes really extraordinary strong play to unsettle him. I doubt that Andreikin has a real chance to win a standard game against such an experienced old fox like Vlad.

Krestez

Tomorrow Andreikin should go all in. He has to win or else he goes home. I hope he wins. I think Kramnik would have a really hard a time in blitz against him...

Actually Andreikin beat Kramnik last time they met (Tal Memorial) and it was a standard game. Ofc that wasn't Kramnik's best tournament.

I guess Kramnik will just opt for his Berlin wall and drew without much trouble.

Who says Andreikin will play Ruy Lopez?

Berlin wall - synonym for boring (khem, solid) opening.

Vladimir Kramnik is the winner! What a performance. And style. Relaxed, no mistakes, no losses.

Thanks to Nigel Short and Dirk Jan ten Geuzendam for great commentary.

Bravo Vlad!
