Would you contract Coronavirus for Magnus Carlsen-level chess abilities?

GMofAmateurs

If someone were a professional but not world class grandmaster, they'd consider it. Yes, I'm aware that coronavirus is scary, but World Chess Champion is World Chess Champion.

The flu infected millions of people and only a few thousand died, mostly old Chinese people who were already compromised.

The coronavirus may have a high death and severe illness rate. We don't really know since China is a communist country with bad healthcare and a censoring government. For all we know the death rate is between 0.1% and 2% of all infected.

Probably yes if the risk of death is less than 1.00%.

Lucas_Bomfim

Yes, I would.

I just want to ask Chinese chess player there...how bad the condition is? did they cancel all the tournaments for a year?

JamesColeman

Not a chance. Cos then I'd have to start playing again.

The risk of death is near zero if you are healthy.
