Please stop this continuous alert about restarting the servers. it starts poping half an hour ago and do not let us play with peace. it is shown after every 5 seconds. showing an alert for one or two times is enough! I've reported this problem several times. You guys just don't read feedback. please take action........

They are trying to get people to stop playing so that they can restart the servers without killing games in progress. If people like you actually listened to their requests and stopped playing, the server reboots could proceed much more quickly and then you could get back to playing.

And if you don't post the feedback in the Site Feedback forum, how should they know to look for it where you have posted it? Do you want them all to sit around reading random forum posts all day?

I can't understand..why people like you start babbling without reading the full original post. I'm not saying them to not give alert. Im saying to stop repeated alert.

Also i included that alerts start 30 min ago. In this time we can play several blitz.

They dont want us to stop playing. They just want to let us know that your game may get aborted when server restarts.

I know that they are not sitting everywhere to reply my comments and I have sent them feedback emails several times for this

They send it multiple times so they can be sure everyone that gets into Live gets the message. If they didn't do that, then they would get even more complaints about restarting the server, causing games to be aborted, wondering why there weren't more notifications.

Ideally, the would just add code to implement a maintenance mode where it won't allow new games to be started while in effect. Then, one notice would be adequate, along with a process to give a message when attempting to start a new game.

Still would probably upset some people but would solve the notification part

Taking down all servers simultaneously should not be needed in this day and age.

chess.com servers should be able to be upgraded sequentially.

Servers should be stop accepting jobs and be taken offline to be upgraded once idle.

Then those servers come back online so that others can be  taken offline for upgrades.

That's how the big boys do it so that it is transparent to their users.

The operative word there being "big boys": if Chess.com were a shopping portal were every minute down costs them a potential sale, I can see that sort of invstment being worthwhile, but having a half hour outage isn't really that big a deal for chess players - after all, all of us should have something better to be doing with our lives Wink
