Ad not going away in Android app

Hi, lately an ad pops up that covers the entire screen of the chess application for Android and the "X" button to close it doesn't do anything. Sometimes it goes away if I close the application and reopen it, but today it keeps coming up and I haven't been able to play. Anyone know what is going on here? Also, would subscribing get rid of ads like these? Thank you.
Edit: the ad is for a slot machine game and even if I click it, opening the internet browser and going to where ever you download the slot machine game, the ad still comes up when I go back to chess.
