Can't downgrade account from Gold to Free

I'm trying to downgrade from gold to free without totally deleting account.  I get an error message that the "feature" had not been implemented.

I've tried to downgrede both using the iPad app and on the website version.  No luck. 

Please help.

Using V2, all you have to do is go into the Home/Account section. Right up top it should say you have a premium account. Next, there is a link to cancel the premium membership. Click it and follow the instructions.

I just tried the solution and I get the following:

"Cancel not implemented for this payment type"

Could it be you have set up for auto-renewal?  If so, then you should try changing the setting on whatever site you use to pay.  If not, then I have no adviceEmbarassed.

I subscribed on chess.com Normal credit card subscription. If I don't get a satisfactory response I'll just have to cancel altogether rather than just downgrade.

I'm going to assume this isn't bad faith on the part of chess.com, but they certainly made it easier to sign up than to downgrade.

You really can't downgrade to free from premium. Well, if you are in your first 30 days you can get a refund. I believe you can also do so if you had an automatic renewal and want to cancel within 30 days.

 

Both of those require a ticket.

Otherwise, what you can do is cancel any auto renewals and let the current membership expire.
