Draw, problem in the app Chess, help for a test

Hello

There is a problem in the app Chess.

The app says: Draw by repetition.

I want to do a test. Can someone do a game with me for a test? Thank you.

The last draw in your archive is a draw by repetition. Do you think there was something wrong with it?

Can we do a test?

I think there is something wrong.

What do you think is the problem?

I looked at it and there definitely was a triple repetition of position and the draw was accurate.

I think that the app says draw when there is no draw, or gives a misleading conclusion "Draw by repetition". A test would help to know.

Moves 32, 34, and 36 were repetition of position. All the pieces on the same squares, and white to move in each position.

I have never seen an issue here where a game ended by a repetition draw was incorrectly decided.

What rule says that this gives draw?

Futhermore, the rules are not findable in the app Chess, neither in the site Chess.com! This is really a problem. There are variations in the rules of chess. And, on the site Chess.com, the text Aide (Help) is hidden and does not work.

Triple repetition of position is an official rule of chess.

Written where?

Martin, thank you for the link.

1) How would we be supposed to know these rules when we play on the site Chess.com?

2) Must these rules apply to the app Chess on iOS? If yes, then how would we be supposed to know these rules when we play in the iOS app Chess?

3) These rules differ from the last FIDE rules of Chess.

4) Neither these rules neither the last FIDE chess rules say that the same position 3 times gives draw.

5) Neither these rules neither the last FIDE rules say that the same position 3 times gives a draw, position being defined as: the same player's turn, pieces of the same kind and colour occupy the same squares, the possible moves are the same.

6) These rules have a special case: "On Chess.com, this draw happens automatically on the third repetition in Live games." This special case is totally crappy, and does not apply to my game that you found.

The only rule that is different from FIDE is that the draw is automatic in Live and not claimed by the players (I'm not certain on Daily) and all other conditions are the same. The site used to require claiming, but that changed sometime this year.

Your game, that I linked, met all the conditions for a valid draw claim under the FIDE laws of chess and the only difference is that neither you nor your opponent had to make the claim, the server automatically gave the draw.

It is a big difference. And it is not — at all — the only difference.

So you confirm what I was suspecting. The app Chess said draw whereas neither my partner neither I claimed draw. This is totally crappy. This is cheating. I did not expect that. This does not respect the last FIDE rules of chess. This does not respect the rules of draw of your link.

Dang, I hope he never discovers the 50-move rule or the insufficient material rule...

I'm not certain why it was changed to automatic, but I know a lot of people had problems getting claims done correctly, especially due to premoves.  My guess is that they had enough tickets asking why the draw wasn't made, so they just made it automatic.

The site can't do it like OTB, where the third repetition doesn't get made but gets written down and then the claim is made.

Your game had a triple repetition and was drawn. That is the way it works here, and you can't say your opponent wouldn't have claimed it anyway.

There are some other rules from FIDE that the site does not follow, such as how insufficient material is handled, but for this particular draw rule, being automatic is the only difference.

The rule does not EXACTLY respect FIDE rules. It has been implemented in a way that coincides with the phases of the moon.

Draw is a problem often draw by reputation without the 3x moves it is a problem

If you find an example where there wasn't a repetition and the site claimed it, you should post the game. Your last game was a valid draw by repetition.
