Starting a "new" game in play (chess.com/play/online) never matches when I use 45/45 or 60 minute time controls. There also is NO WAY TO LOOK AT OPEN GAME OFFERS in "play" mode.
Go to chess.com/live & I see that play mode is going to be mandatory.
Open challenges are available on the Play server.

To add to that, you have to use Custom Game > Open Challenges to see that.
