I am in a group and I tried to post something in my groups forum and as soon as I clicked sumit everything I wrote disappeared without a trace.can someone explain to me what is happening and how to fix it?

bastiaan

I always ctrl a ctrl c before I mail/post anything, it mostly has something to do with connection (on my account)

the problem is you pressed summit instead of  submit and u sent it skyward.

You cant surf from the Air>>>>   just ruffeling feathers..

I have the same problem with the same group.. the longer the post the longer the imput, and it seems the easier to loose it when pressing post.

We got big plans for our room! aint that right vandemeere?

It could be for one of two reasons.

1. You're time to compose the post is limited to 30 minutes, so if the post took longer than that to write, and Save/Preview wasn't used, sadly the post would have been irretrievably lost sorry

2. Are you able to post on your group homepage notes?

Check to see if you are able to post anywhere else in the group incase one of the group super admin has banned but not removed you from the group. If this is the case, you can view threads there but can't post.

I think the problem might be "timing out." If you took a fair amount of time to type your post (say, 30 minutes or more), then the webpage might have timed out, figuring that you were inactive, or away from your keyboard, even though you were typing the whole time.

I've had this same thing happen to me whenever I'm typing a lengthy message. Sometimes my whole message is simply lost. It can be quite frustrating when I don't realize it's going to happen.

You can sidestep this problem in a couple of ways. One option is to type your whole post in a program like Microsoft Word first. When you've typed everything, simply cut and paste it into the text box that creates the new thread.

Another option is to do as bastiaan suggested. Type your new post in the text box. Along the way, if you think your message took too long to type, highlight the whole text, and copy by CTRL+C before hitting Submit. This way, you'll have a backup copy in case the text gets lost, and you can just paste the copy onto a new text box.

A third option is closely related to the second. I prefer cutting the whole message by CTRL+X (instead of copying by CTRL+C), and then immediately pasting into the same text box (CTRL+V). The reason is that sometimes the "copy" command doesn't register for some reason. If I cut and paste consecutively, then I know that my text will paste again successfully if I should need it to.
