Questions to 3 day Games

Hi!

There are some differences between shorter games (i.e. 10min, 30 min) and longer lasting games (i.e. 3 day per move games). I can´t find the thumps up, thumps down button and the possibility to report somebody who is rude for example (or, what happens more often, just stops playing, so that I have to wait full three days without anything happening ).

And why, for heavens sake, is there an analysis tool during the game? That really is something I don´t understand.

Thanks for help!

mbereobong

I think that having a reporting tool for daily games is a  great idea. About the analysis board, I see its point, but whenever I use it, I feel bad, like I’m cheating or something since you can’t use them in actual live games.

äh... what does that mean: "but whenever I use it, I feel bad, like I’m cheating or something since you can’t use them in actual live games."?? 1.) It is cheating using a analysis board! 2.) How do you use it if you can´t use it in actual live games? That contradicts itself.

In Daily Chess, the use of an analysis board and no engines, is allowed. @mbereobong is likely referring to the fact that you can't make use of an analysis board when playing face-to-face, or in Live here.

Daily is correspondence chess, where it has been historically allowed to use a board to analyze, to consult books/periodicals, videos, databases, etc and it is allowed here as well. The limitation is no engines, tablebases or collaboration with other players.

There is nothing wrong with taking all your time on a Daily game, on any move or even everymove, but if a player is being a poor sport in some other manner, you can easily report them.

Ok, first thing: I don´t refuse the other player to take all time he (or she) needs! But if one does not play for the whole time and so I´m waiting days for nothing, that I would call rudness! What is the problem of hitting the resign button?

Second thing: Thank you for the illuminative article! The article only sais how I can throw the person out of my sight (what, sometimes, is a really good option). But I saw the not explained, but clear button for reporting somebody . So I say thank you for your help!

Have you also an explanation for the option of analysis? I wonder really much that this possibility exists.

In correspondence chess, which Daily chess is, it has always been allowed to use a board to analyze positions, to move the pieces around and try different lines.

You can also consult static resources, to look up other games that are the same opening, that have similar features, etc.

Ahh, now I understand. It´s a self-anlaysis tool, not an engine. Ok, that makes more sense! I already use the board-editor from lichess.org or a real chess-board in my flat to have a look what may be the best next move or what my opponent may play the next moves. Ok, so great to know. It was always a bit circuitous to do so. With this integratet tool, it might be much more easy.

Thank you very much for help!

to Mr. mbereobong: Sorry, that I thought you would cheat with this tool, I had not fully understood what it is! Now I know that this is just a helping tool. If my mind would work better, I could do it just inside myself, but I need (as most people, I think) the help of a board, whether made of matter or of pixeles does not matter. So use this tool, it´s good, you don´t have to feel guilty about that!
