It may be unwanted but its not spam. I believe it goes out to everybody.
If there is an explicit option in my account settings to NOT receive these kind of newsletters, it should be absolute in its promise. Hugely disappointed, Chess.com.
What if they ABSOLUTELY NEEDED to tell you something about the site. How would they do that with YOUR settings ?

They would still be able to if they deem it necessary. The point is that someone's thoughts on the world championships aren't exactly "ABSOLUTELY NEEDED".

Still waiting for a staff response on this issue. Has the unsubscribed link been fixed?
I've already unticked the email option in my settings, but I still received an email newsletter today (Something about Nakamura's thoughts on the World Championship). And worse, when I clicked on the "Unsubscribe" link on the bottom, it brought me to an "Oops?! Invalid server request!" page. Please fix the unsubscribe link and allow users an inviolable way to ban all unwanted email spam.
