Why wont chess.com fix obvious problem with frequent disconnects

  • #1

Been going on for about 3 months.  Not my ISP, not my cookies or cache.  And I have no viruses or malware.  Happens on all different browsers.  I suspect demand on their bandwidth is too high now bc they have too many members and given their advertising schemes and they don't want to augment it.  I have seen A LOT of other people complaining about this.

And what the hell is the point of playing online chess if you lose games because the application boots you for 10-15 seconds every time your opponent.

With so many people complaining about this ... why don't they care about this.  This used to be THE chess site in the world.  Now it is kind of a joke.

Idk. I guess it hasn't yet hit them in the pocketbook.

From what I can tell on the forums ... a lot of people are going to ICC. I know I am.  I suspect they got some new ownership, which often means pretty stupid financial over wizards who try to defer costs to their customers, not caring that ultimately they are destroying the process or company or application.  This is complete b______. This site was once THE chess site in the world.  It is a joke now.

Site ownership hasn't changed. Most people don't have major issues. Either that or most of those that do are being silent.

There are things that can be done to improve connection from the client side.

neither have worked for me, although the OP would be advised to try them.

Interesting.  I have sent them multiple messages about this.  In one response they sent me a chart PROVING the issues were not on their end. Although I quickly pointed out the obvious problem with how the chart was measuring and proving that assertion.  In other response, entirely contradicting the first, they said they are aware of the problem and working hard to fix it.  So ... they are blowing smoke.  And the "most users don't have a problem" is blowing smoke. There are so many complaints about this out there .... they don't know what they are doing about the problem.  But this used to be THE chess site in the world.  Now it is almost useless.
