That is NOT intented! Can you take a screenshot for me? Looking into this asap!
Agressive ads during live chess on iPad blocking game

Here's an example that just happened a few seconds into a game on my iPad with iOS 7.1 with Chess App Version 2.12.19. When it happens it freezes the game and the only work-around is to exit the App via the iPad's Menu button and force quit the App then re-open and re-enter the game. That looses about 20 seconds. In this example, I just let it expire the game. It seems it's not a usual pop-up ad, but rather an attempt to force me to install a game from the AppStore.
I used my iPhone to take a picture of my iPad:

ok. i THINK we should have this resolved soon. make sure to update when the new version comes out in a few days!

Well, it seems it was fixed in the version before 2.12.28 . Didn't see any ads during the game for a few days. Now it's back. Just happened to me 5mins ago.

bug slip in a code fork ? ;)
Erik, tried to reply to your email but was blocked because I'm not in your friends list. CC'd Brenan.

please post the times when this happens. more info helps!
we are working on getting it stopped. but it's actually affecting a LOT of apps:
we are disabling networks and digging in.

Interesting article Erik!
Ad network companies acting more like a virus. Hopefully the culprits can be identified and loose business as a consequence.
Apple should get involved in updating iOS to disallow rogue redirect calls to its AppStore app. It might just be ads for now, but what else could be "trojan horsed" onto our iPads ?
My apologies to you hard working chess.com curators for initially suspecting you as a source.

we just released a new build and also shut down some ad networks.
please report if you get any more in-game popups!
After a recent update of my Chess.com iPad app, live chess is now frequently interrupted by pop-up ads blocking the game in progress and causing me to loose the game on time. Is this the latest tactic to force players to pay up ? If so, I will just delete the app, because it's become unplayable. I hope the staff will rethink this aggressive strategy.
Ads before and after a game is ok, but during is not cool!
