If you want to improve your chess game neither play 3 min nor 5 min. If those games due to time pressure you can blunder easily. Instead play 10 min or more. There you have time to anylise your moves, think and play. then after the match you can anylise your game find the mistakes and avoid them the next game.

I'm trying to improve my game. I usually play on online chess (1617 rating), but I want to play better in fast tempo games (like blitz, not lightning). My rating on blitz is awful (about 1130).
My question is: What type of blitz I must prefer? 3 min? 5 min? 10 min? What is the main differences (benefit) between them?
