Yes, they have pinged your computer and detected a large lag of more than 2 seconds. They don't allow games to start when one side has such a large lag.

Perhaps you can reboot your computer, move to a place with a better wifi connection, shut down other applications that are using the internet, etc.

"they have pinged your computer and detected a large lag of more than 2 seconds. They don't allow games to start when one side has such a large lag."

That is bollocks. The lag on my computer is under 200ms. If there is a 2 second delay it is something at chess.com's end.

Also, before preventing me from starting any new games, the site terminated my connection in the middle of a game I was playing.  Even with a delay of 2s per move I had a chance of winning it. The message said I had "lost" my connection, but I had done no such thing.  I can connect to any other site on the internet and get near-instant response.

I have a super fast connection, so this has to be a bug on chess.com's part.

I think this has to do with recently I set Chrome to automatically delete cookies when I close the browser, because I never saw this error until today.

roshyj

I experienced the same issue, multiple times.  220 Mbps download/15Mbps upload speed, per network speed tests.  No other sites have any issue.  Looks like something is wrong with chess.com's servers.

There are a lot of things that can cause connection issues. Some of them are outside of the site's control or the control of the player.

Swirly1

Nonsense. This is all on chess.com. Bottomline , if you want to play 1 minute chess and not lag out, or get one of these messagess, than you are better off playing elsewhere. I suggest [another site -- VP]

Same here, I cannot create a Live game because of it, and my connection is perfectly fine. I also too lost a game because of connection problems while I was winning.. I asure you my home connection is perfectly fine...

It's from chess.com as the other users commented...and I'm not pointing fingers at the site, I am just telling you so you can look at it and fix it

I also reported a bug today in which the opponent players' country flag and the profile picture did not load (it was fixed later on its own) - that clearly could be a connection problem as well.

scntaxpro

I'm having same issue.  my internet connection is fine for other websites. this is a chess.com issue

`chess.,com has the bad habit of releasing beta versions that don't work.  I have an excellent internet connection and I can't connect to live games.  But I can connect to all the other types of games - computer, 4 player chess, etc.  chess.com needs an IT manager who understands governmance, alignment, and that the USERS of the system are what matters most, not the latest and greatest technical toy that some geeky software engineer thinks it would be cool to implement.  I have ZERO problem connecting to any other sites on the internet.  Period.

Anybody resolve this ? or it just for me this problem ? Your challenge cannot be created because of your internet connection. Please reconnect and try again.

dinoguy_1

Same problem here in New Jersey, USA.

tacticalpawn82

It's good to see a lot of players commenting about the problem at the same time frame, it really shows that it's the site's problem.

Martin_Stahl

The current problem does seem to be a Live issue. Regarding to the OP,  that was as probably something else.

chess.com is now resetting the live server.   hope that fixes the problem.

antmg

Same in Canada. Might be chess live equipment malfunctionning or denial of service attack.

It's not the sites problem. It's the players problem. You dont see anyone from the site complaining. In post #9 Swirly summed it up very well. There is indeed a solution that's guaranteed to work.
