If you dont like gg, the winner could always say, "you played well!" or "I'd like to play you another time!" or "Goodluck next game!" or "I got lucky!" GG is the essence of everything above just in an abbreviation.
Sometimes it is okay to get mad at someone when they say "gg" when it was obviously a one-sided game or they insulted you by getting 5 queens before checkmating you. That is arrogance.
This whole matter really depends on what happens during the chess game, but the best way to have a good time is to just tell yourself the game is for fun and start another game.

If they need 5 queens to checkmate you, then I'm not so sure they have a right to be arrogant. :-p

If I get dominated and they say gg, I respond with "for who?" lol...if it's a good game then I just say it back....post 1/1000 ;)

Responding to "gg" the same way you would respond to "LOL pwned" is arrogance.
I wonder how some people make it through a normal day without a breakdown.
