You were 1080 rating before playing them, you won, gained 8 rating and now are 1088 rating.
Is the points system broken??

That's because your friend is over 400 points lower rated than you. What you and your friend did by intentionally losing/resigning games in 2 or 3 moves over and over is considered rating manipulation and against fairplay policy.
Presently my bullet rating is 1088. I just defeated some guy 1073 rating. And got 1 point for the victory. One single point a guy almost my rating. Sometimes those same ratings takr away 8-12 points from me. What is happening??
