Excellent Alexander twice in a row you have cracked my puzzles!!!

Now it's time for me to give one back, although not a study.

Pretty hard one!!! I can not find near mate here Alexander. But if I were White, I'll take on g6 pawn.

It doesn't have to be a mate, you just win material and get a decisive advantage.

1.Nxh7 Kxh7 2.hxg6+ Kxg6 3.e4 threatening Qh5+

after 2.hxg6 black plays Kg8

3.e4 with the threat of Qh5 again!

first move is E4? then Nxh7

That's what actually occurred in the game Jimeer. As I understand, Alexander wanted to present a winning move instead of e4.

1.hxg6 hxg6  2.Nh7 Rfe8 3.Ne4 and all sorts of permutations thereafter.

4.g4 probably, the Knight can only move to d4 and then 5.g5 looks very threatening.

Canutus, cogratulations! after 5.g5 taking is suicide and f5 6.Nef6 Kf7 7.Ne8 Re8 8.e3 wins a rook. So for black it is best to give up an exchange after 2.Nh7 but this would still win for white.

I will maybe soon open a thread with a more difficult puzzle.
