aurelcablayan

White to move and mates Black in three.

Alexander_Donchenko

1.Qh3 Kxg6 (Kf6 Qf5) 2.Kf4 Kf6 3.Qe6 mate

aurelcablayan

Excellent Alexander twice in a row you have cracked my puzzles!!!

Alexander_Donchenko

Now it's time for me to give one back, although not a study.

aurelcablayan

Pretty hard one!!! I can not find near mate here Alexander. But if I were White, I'll take on g6 pawn.

Alexander_Donchenko

It doesn't have to be a mate, you just win material and get a decisive advantage.

aurelcablayan

1.Nxh7 Kxh7 2.hxg6+ Kxg6 3.e4 threatening Qh5+

Alexander_Donchenko

after 2.hxg6 black plays Kg8

aurelcablayan

3.e4 with the threat of Qh5 again!

JIMEER

first move is E4? then Nxh7

aurelcablayan

That's what actually occurred in the game Jimeer. As I understand, Alexander wanted to present a winning move instead of e4.

Canutus

1.hxg6 hxg6  2.Nh7 Rfe8 3.Ne4 and all sorts of permutations thereafter. Smile

Alexander_Donchenko

@aurelcabyan after 3.e4 I play Nfd4 4.Qh5 fxg6

@JIMEER 1.e4 Nfd4 (aurelcabyan, I didn't play 1.e4 but 1.Nge4 with a slight edge)

aurelcablayan

My apologies to Jimeer, actual first move from the position is 1.Nge4 Smile

Alexander_Donchenko

@Canutus what happens then after 3...f6?

aurelcablayan

LOL I suddenly got lost in the jungle.

Time to sleep Alexander, I give you my continuation tomorrow...

Thanks and God bless you and your family!!!

4.g4 probably, the Knight can only move to d4 and then 5.g5 looks very threatening.

Alexander_Donchenko

Canutus, cogratulations! after 5.g5 taking is suicide and f5 6.Nef6 Kf7 7.Ne8 Re8 8.e3 wins a rook. So for black it is best to give up an exchange after 2.Nh7 but this would still win for white.

I will maybe soon open a thread with a more difficult puzzle.

Thanks, it was an interesting game.

I can't see a better move for Black than 2...Rfe8; what should be played instead?
