# When I am hungry

About the puzzle #117, Icy 001 you are probably right

White to play and win

I have just spent half an hour doing this!!!!

XD Oh my.

As Icy 001 showed, #117  leads up only to a draw.

#269 is an attempt at improvement of #117 . I think Elona recognised the situation!

I solved this position on tactics trainer recently.

I don't remember players or (more likely) author of this study. But this is in chess.com database !

First move is Kf5! Qf8 etc.

Does white have a way to avoid checks?

Yes, black has more checks, instead of taking the rook:

Well since no-one has answered puzzle #247, I'll post my solution:

lol pawn mate :) good puzzle

This is from the movie "Searching for Bobby Fischer" and is really nice.

Why does the king need to move before the pawns queen? Consider:

I quote #272 - I must say nearly all of the puzzles or positions in this topic are not mine.I have some books with puzzles and when i take from there i post the name of the author. But i have also a notebook where i have written interesting positions and puzzles i have met through the years and unfortunately i didn't record the names of the authors.I apologize for this. Some of the positions i try to complicate, but the basic idea is not mine.

Here is a puzzle that is mine, but is not very hard :

Mate in 2 moves

Thanks for the explanation.

Here is what Smiley has in mind -find the best continuation for White.

And may be a second question:

if you can add a black pawn - where to put it ?

Is this it?

nice

Yes, the move 3.Qe3 !!  is a kind of (quiet) chess- aerobatics .Thanks to Smiley for posting this puzzle

The bad position of the King is a very important thing in these puzzles.

In the last one even if add a black pawn on  " f5 " the result is the same - but solution is forced and not so nice :

Here is another with Queens and there is zugzwang too:

O.Mazur

white to play and win
