Participation Rules & Scoring System

1. 2014 FIFA World Cup Prediction Contest, from now simply 2014 WCPC, is an open activity for all ‘Chess dot com’ users, purely to have fun with no prizes except the personal satisfaction of winning it.

2. Participation starts sending a prediction by private message for "PardalsemCasa", mentioning in the subject text box the 2014 WCPC.

2.1. Predictions will be accepted only if sent by private message for "PardalsemCasa".

2.2. NO predictions will be accepted by notes, chat, or forum.

3. Participants can send predictions for each game scores and also for 2014 FIFA World Cup final standings, champion, runner-up, third and fourth places.

4. Participants can send as many predictions as wanted by one only message, even for all the 2014 FIFA World Cup games and final standings.

4.1. Predictions can always be replaced by new messages, if it were observed times mentioned here (5, 9.1, 9.2, 9.3, 9.4, 9.5 & 9.6).

5. Predictions for games will be accepted only if sent until the time officially scheduled for each game to start.

6. The 64 games of 2014 FIFA World Cup with their officially scheduled starting times, are listed at the comment #2 in this forum.

6.1. Predictions for games must consider game number and sides as listed.

7. Predictions for group stage games must mention scores for each side.

7.1. Valid prediction for group stage games scores 1 point for correct result, win for any side or tie, plus 1 point for each side correct score, plus 1 point for correct scores difference, so it scores 4 points at maximum for each group stage game.

7.2. There will be 48 games in 2014 FIFA World Cup group stage, so in group stage games participants can score at maximum 192 points.

8. Predictions for knockout stage games must mention scores for each side, including extra time, and which side must advance in case of penalty shootout tie-break.

8.1. Valid prediction for knockout stage games scores 1 point for correct result, win for any side or tie, plus 1 point for each side correct score, plus 1 point for correct advancing side, plus 1 point for correct scores difference, plus 1 point for correct advancing side for next round, or third place, or championship, so it scores 5 points at maximum for each knockout stage game.

8.2. There will be 16 games in 2014 FIFA World Cup knockout stage, so in knockout stage games participants can score at maximum 80 points.

9. Predictions for final standings must list semifinalists, and also each semifinalist final position, champion, runner-up, third & fourth places.

9.1. Predictions for final standings sent till June 12 score 25 points for each listed team playing semis, plus 25 points if all four listed teams play semis, plus 25 points for each listed team ending in its predicted position, plus 25 points if all four listed teams end in their predicted positions, at maximum 250 points.

9.2. Predictions for final standings sent after June 12, till June 19, score 20 points for each listed team playing semis, plus 20 points if all four listed teams play semis, plus 20 points for each listed team ending in its predicted position, plus 20 points if all four listed teams end in their predicted positions, at maximum 200 points.

9.3. Predictions for final standings sent after June 19, till game 49 start, score 15 points for each listed team playing semis, plus 15 points if all four listed teams play semis, plus 15 points for each listed team ending in its predicted position, plus 15 points if all four listed teams end in their predicted positions, at maximum 150 points.

9.4. Predictions for final standings sent after game 49 start, till game 57 start, score 10 points for each listed team playing semis, plus 10 points if all four listed teams play semis, plus 10 points for each listed team ending in its predicted position, plus 10 points if all four listed teams end in their predicted positions, at maximum 100 points.

9.5. Predictions for final standings sent after game 57 start, score 5 points for each listed team ending in its predicted position, plus 5 points if all four listed teams end in their predicted positions, at maximum 25 points.

9.6. Predictions for final standings sent after game 61 start will not be accepted.

10. The winner of the 2014 WCPC will be the participant who has scored more points at the end of 2014 FIFA World Cup.

10.1. In case of tie, number of perfect scores predictions will be 1st tiebreaker.

10.2. If tie persists, points for final standings predictions will be 2nd tiebreaker.
